New Art From G. Russell Case - "Hanging Clouds and Fresh Sage"

G. Russell Case is an exceptional artist in his use of color and shapes. While the subject matter may be familiar to some, it is his choice of colors and shapes that gives his paintings lasting interest.

The visual interaction between the sage in the foreground and the clouds in sky, separated by the sliver of color in the middle ground, are all brought together by the repetition of the colors in the foothills. As a final touch, Russell mirrors the shapes of the sage and clouds. The rider and horses give the painting a sense of scale and vastness. This is a well thought out, beautifully executed work of art.

If you are interested in learning how Russell Case creates paintings like this, consider signing up for his Plein Air workshop in Red Lodge, Montana, this fall. As of this post, however, there are only two slots left for his section. The four day workshops are scheduled from September 12th to the 15th, 2016, and feature instructors G. Russell Case, Ray Roberts and Matt Smith. Red Lodge is situated in some of the most spectacular scenery in Montana (which is saying something) near the entrance of Yellowstone Park.
